Red Cross
Blood inventory levels are dropping due to the
impact of recent weather and holiday activities.
Around the clock, blood is needed to help
accident victims, surgery patients and many
others who need blood every day.
During the cold weather months we typically
see fewer blood donors. Many area hospitals
count on the Red Cross to keep supplies at
the ready and we can’t do it alone. Please help
us ensure that blood is available by visting a
blood drive today! It is safe and usually requires
less than an hour of your time.
Call a few people, remind a few friends and
family to make a donation and help save lives.
Each donation can help up to three patients in
need. It is a gift you know will be appreciated.
Thank you from everyone who will benefit
from your generous gift of blood; a gift which
may provide someone an opportunity for
another holiday season with loved ones.
For information call 1-800 Give Life or visit
www.BloodisNeeded.org for drive locations.
This Holiday Season...
...the need remains.

10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge
Greetings;
December is finally here and it's time for the 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics. On Saturday December 13th several hundred crazy folks will take the plunge into the icy cold waters of Lakewood Lake #3, all to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Arkansas.
As most of you know, three years ago myself along with several other of my Law Enforcement friends decided to plunge not just once but 24 times; once an hour beginning at noon on Friday and ending at noon on Saturday. We have committed once again to plunging all night in a Super Plunge. This plunge has been called "Freezing for a Reason" in year's past; I like to call it "Crazy for a Reason"!
I know many of you want to help in the cause and it's easy to do. You can go to my on line fundraising page at www.firstgiving.com/CaptainD
and donate or just see me if you would like to give in person.
Thanks, and by the way if you want to plunge with us on Saturday at noon let me know, I'll save a place for you!
Please pass this email along to your friends, family and co-workers.....help me reach my goal!!
Captain D
and by the way......I have been ordered to wear a shirt at all times this year so relax but I will have my NLR Swim cap on!

New NLR News Web Site
I have reworked Dogtown Wire as NLR Daily News and relaunched it as an open source news web site. The new web site address is
http://www.nlrdailynews.com/
Spread the word, tell your friends. We now have a place where we can post our own news and share it with the entire City.
We look at NLR Daily News as an "open source" news site much like Linux was developed with thousands of contributors in a free and open environment, we hope dozens and hundreds of you will become involved in the development and publication of news at North Little Rock Daily News. Much like the travel industry was radically altered by the development of software sites like Travelocity and Orbitz, we hope this site empowers citizens to get involved in sharing their news
